August 2, 2021 at the headquarters of the Iraqi Embassy in Madrid, His Excellency the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq, Mr. Adel Mustafa Kamel, and a delegation formed by Dr. Fadi Salfeti, President of the Fundación Eco de España en Árabe, Mr. Wolfgang Friedl, Director of Media and Public Information of the Diplomatic Coalition and Diplomatic Council Spain, and Ms. Sihem Ameur, Director of Diplomatic Relations of HM Hospitals Group.
This meeting is part of the cooperation and association between the organizers of diplomatic events between Spain and the Arab embassies in Madrid, carried out by the Diplomatic Council Spain, the Diplomatic Coalition and Eco de España with the aim of opening the horizon of exchange between the Arab countries and the Kingdom of Spain, which began with the Diplomatic International Day held last June at the Casa Árabe, in collaboration with the Embassy of the League of Arab States in Spain.
The delegation was received by the ambassador and diplomat Shaima Al-Mayahi, responsible for the culture and media archive at the embassy.
During the visit, the perspectives of cooperation and participation in the diplomatic events to be held were discussed, and the meeting revolved around the importance of highlighting the role of the Arab countries represented in Spain and opening spaces for exchange and constructive interaction.
His Excellency the Ambassador highlighted the importance of Iraq’s always interactive participation in all activities and events that highlight the Iraqi and Arab role in the Kingdom of Spain. He also welcomed and highlighted the need to engage in activities that serve diplomacy for all parties.
He also pointed out the possibility of putting the objectives of the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development at the service of Iraq after the series of sufferings it suffered as a result of terrorism and the subsequent consequences of Covid 19, as well as the importance of the media.
Salfeti gave a brief introduction about the Fundación Eco de España in Arabic, its role and working mechanism, the importance of highlighting and transmitting the Arabic voice to the Spanish as well as the Spanish voice to the Arabs, changing the stereotype of both sides, and paving the way for Arab countries for joint cooperation in the service of this goal, and the philosophy of sharing among all parties to achieve the greatest possible interaction.
Friedl presented an overview of the work of the Diplomatic Coalition and its role in highlighting the UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030, through their joint activities, which are scheduled to take place in September and November, with the “Diplomatic International Day 2nd edition “. In this edition, Arab ambassadors in Madrid will participate, and in the “Diplomatic International Week” in November 2021 of this year, several foreign and Arab ambassadors will participate, in addition to other activities that will be announced later.
He also transmitted the greeting of the Director of the Diplomatic Coalition, Mr. Juan Llorente.
Sihem Ameur explained the role of the HM Hospitals Group in organizing and coordinating the success of these events as part of its interest in opening up the fields of health and therapeutic work with its different specializations for the Arab countries.
At the end of the meeting, the delegation thanked His Excellency Ambassador for the generous reception. For his part, His Excellency thanked the permanent cooperation and association and stressed that the embassy doors are always open for any future cooperation.
